Stress & Trauma Clinic

Stress, anxiety, and trauma manifest in the body as symptoms. I can support you to immediately reduce the symptoms of stress, anxiety, and trauma. I will give you some tools for self-care and self-regulation of the nervous system.

Many clients have walked into my treatment room and explained to me that they have done many years of talk therapy, but they know “its” in their body. They do not necessarily explain what “it” is. However, what is clear to me now, is that “it” is the physical manifestation of stress & trauma, from our lived experiences. Our body tissues hold the story of our life, our bibliography. My aim is to settle you and to create a safe space to facilitate change. When appropriate I make contact with your clothed body, I listen to your body physiology, and how the story has manifested. When appropriate, I invite change. The techniques are subtle yet deeply powerful and change takes place at a cellular level.

I have supported clients who have experienced what is now known as big T trauma: those who have been in abusive relationships, or those who have experience sexual abuse or rape as well as those who have experienced very traumatic emergency surgeries and those who have found friends who have taken their own lives. I have worked with clients in stages of acute grief: mothers grieving children and children grieving parents. I have also worked with those grieving partners. I have worked with childhood trauma and neglect.

I feel humbled that clients feel safe enough to share their story. Some of the story is shared in words, whilst the body expresses the rest. Non-verbal communication is powerful, as many traumas are pre-verbal or impossible to put into words.

I have also supported clients through what are considered little “T” traumas, which also manifest in the body causing symptoms. Some of the more common presentations are symptoms following:

  • Divorce

  • Loss of a job

  • Car accidents

  • Bullying

While all trauma is stressful not all stressful incidents cause trauma.
